Do your part fighting crisis “mis-information” online.

I personally stick to science sites and authoritative medical sources whose reputation is trustworthy. I’m also on the lookout for articles that aren’t information at all: They’re speculations designed to amp up anxiety. These “articles” start with words like “Possible” and “Could” and describe scenarios of overwhelmingly negative possibilities. Hardly do you find them wondering if “possibly our amazing scientists will solve this problem in record time.” Instead, they quote obscure studies or computer simulations or unknown experts who want their fifteen minutes of fame. Sadly, our poorly designed media economy only makes money if they connect your nervous system to their advertising system - which means “worst case” articles spread like a mental version of the real virus.

Do your part!

I remind myself these things *haven’t* happened. I recognize these wild words are manipulating my mind to feel fear and stress as if they were real. I make a note of every irresponsible journalist and media source playing for clicks during a crisis. And I’m unsubscribing and deleting sources from my attention - and wallet - forever.

Meanwhile, THE REAL FACTS should give you hope and confidence:

  • A vaccine trial has already started in the US with others beginning soon (scientists rock)

  • Doctors in India and the US are repurposing existing antiviral regimens successfully (doctors rock)

  • Cleveland Clinic has launched a test that takes only hours for results and private labs will be ready to process thousands of tests per day this week (medical professionals and high tech rock)

  • MOST IMPORTANTLY: That most people who contract the virus will survive with little or no medical intervention. China already has over 22,000+ recovered patients; Worldwide 80,000 have already recovered out of 200,000 cases. While more people will contract it, MOST will also survive it with the medicines we have today.

It’s possible all sorts of things could happen.
It’s even more possible they will NOT.
It’s DEFINITE we will win if we stick to the facts.

Be safe. Be healthy. Be reasonable.
Be aware that there's more than one virus spreading.
