Note to Self: Find the Power of Some
Here's a conversation I had over and over and over last week:
"How's the market doing?" I would ask a broker or an agent.
"Doing well," some would say. "It's a year for doing okay."
"But we're told the sky is falling," I'd wink at them.
"For some," they would respond. But for some it will be surprisingly -
Better than ever!
And that's how I was reminded of the
Power of Some.
Would you believe that SOME brokers are doing to have a good year? That SOME agents will capture market share and meet their sales goals? That SOME business plans will work well in SOME markets and deliver SOME pretty good results?
That SOME people will sell and buy their home, trade in their car, upgrade their smartphones, take a family vacation, invest in new technology? I hope so, because until you remember that not EVERYONE is going to experience the same gloomy headlines -
You won't see the OPPORTUNITY TO be part of the SOME people who will GROW, instead!
After spending a week with SOME leading real estate agents and brokers, I'm more convinced than ever that the key to success is to stop focusing on what "everyone" is supposedly experiencing - and instead focus on what
SOME people are actually DOING!
In fact, if your business isn't designed for SOME turbulence - the normal ups and downs of markets, revenue, expenses, units - then ask for a refund from your business school. SOME years are going to be flush; some years are going to be just okay. Sometimes you'll be #1 and other times you'll be #2. Or even #3.
None of which spells disaster for EVERYONE. But it can certainly be trouble for SOME.
I think you get the picture.
Just keep this simple idea in mind:
You don't have to be ready for EVERYTHING.
But you have to be ready for SOME of the things -
That's when you discover that in ANY case
For SOME-ONE LIKE YOU - things will turn out
just fine.
