Write Your Own Headlines

** We interrupt the PANIC CYCLE to bring you some GOOD NEWS about the housing industry **

EVEN THOUGH some "breaking news" from a housing industry website says Home Buyer sentiment has hit a "record low" the SKY IS NOT FALLING!

People who only read the headline might get concerned, but the GOOD NEWS is that the third paragraph quotes that Fannie Mae "... predict[s] that home sales will dip by 4.1 percent this year to 6.6 million ..."

Which would be more than 300,000 ADDITIONAL BUYER PURCHASES than 2021 - a year in which MORE HOMES WERE BOUGHT than at any time in 15 years.

In other words, there's no problem with buyers - even grumpy ones.

Please don't read only "man bites dog" headlines.

There's always an angle to tempt you to click.

Even if the article eventually tells the truth,

The damage to your emotions will already be done.

Let's be serious:

Consumers have a right to be cautious, and express their concerns, really. AT THE SAME TIME, the way some people answer surveys don't always reflect what they DO in real life. And we dont' sell to the aggregate - we sell to an INDIVIDUAL or household that makes a very PERSONAL choice. So do "national" sentiment surveys really mean anything to the conversations you're having at one kitchen table today?

Nahhhh.

It's also possible (quite likely, in fact) that the buyers SURVEYED won't be the same profile of the "buyer" who will TAKE ACTION. First-time buyers with limited funds might be gloomy and quit the market this year. Meanwhile, more move-up buyers will be THRILLED to tap their historically-high equity when they sell - and buy again.

Always remember, there's: THE REST OF THE STORY

So:

Know your market.

Survey your own consumers.

Identify your own trends and opportunities.

And most of all - write your OWN HEADLINES.

Starting with the GOOD news first!
