The Secret is There Is No Secret

Note to Self: The Secret is There Is No Secret.

Maybe it’s just the Monday after a lunar eclipse but my Facebook feed is filled with “secret-revealing” ads this morning:

“This 25-Page Plan Changed My Career”

“How This Agent Got 14 Listings in One Month!”

“Here’s How to Tap Into SuperHuman Luck!”

Makes me wonder why I ever went to school, got two degrees, worked nights and weekends to launch my business, prospected every day, gave hundreds of presentations, kept learning new things, trying new tools and then

Kept at it ever since!

“The shortcut IS the work,” my mentor always said. “If all it took was a quick-fix, everybody would have done it by now. Success requires what most people can’t - or won’t - commit to:

Doing the work.”

Right now there’s a lot of work to be done. Keeping your wits calm while the headlines scream chaos. Discovering the facts that point to opportunity in our lives and careers. Creating a plan to wisely invest your time and energy. Learning the lessons that lead steadily to sustainable results.

Then showing up every day and putting in the effort.

What is needed isn’t obscure. In fact it’s the exact opposite. It’s the open, clear and sensible decision to do what you can, when you can, because you can.

Making progress.

That’s how you write your own plan, find your own opportunities and create all the luck you’ll ever need.

That’s been the best advice I’ve ever received: And that’s no secret!

Let’s go!
