The Road Less Taken

Note to Self: I’ve been in business for 31 years and not once have I written an ad, article, social media post or presentation script that talks about a competitor. Somehow I’ve found a way to focus on what I bring to the table, how I can offer value, and how the client will be better off with ME than without ME.

When people have asked me to compare myself to other companies, I’ve always declined.

When others have entered my industry, I’ve never decried or disparaged them.

When I see my competitors succeeding, I’ve never commented anything beyond: Bravo!

For I know my growth has had almost nothing to do with them - unless, by their very existence, and even sometimes advice, they’ve been so kind as to teach me something I hadn’t yet learned.

The result?

I’ve never run out of opportunities.
I’ve never run out of revenue
I’ve never run out of reasons to connect with prospects, past clients and even those “competitive” peers to collaborate.

It has certainly been the road less taken.
But I believe it has made all the difference.
